About

A writing practice built around how work actually gets done

Haas makes complex information clear and useful. We started with standard operating procedures for organizations that needed their knowledge written down — and grew into the training and marketing that follow from it.

Why the three services belong together

Most of our clients came to us with a documentation problem. Procedures lived in people's heads, onboarding took months, and the same questions got answered over and over.

Writing that down solved the first problem and exposed the next one: documentation alone does not teach. So we built curriculum around it. And once teams could describe their work precisely internally, they wanted to describe it well externally too.

That is the whole thread. Technical writing captures what you know. Curriculum teaches it. Marketing communicates its value. Each one makes the next one easier.

Where we work

Haas Technical Writing is based in Cañon City, Colorado, and works with organizations across the United States — from local trade businesses to global manufacturers, school districts, and education technology companies.

How we work

Four things we hold to

Accuracy before polish

A beautifully written procedure that is wrong is worse than no procedure. Every draft is verified by the people who do the work.

Write for the reader in front of the task

Not for the reviewer, not for the org chart. The test is whether someone can act on it without asking a follow-up question.

Leave you able to maintain it

We hand off templates, structure, and guidance so your documentation does not go stale the month after we finish.

Say what we don't know

If a project is outside what we do well, we say so early. It costs less than finding out later.

“We originally hired Haas Technical Writing to help with technical documentation and guides, and they completely blew us away. Their work was so impressive that when we got stuck on an important project, I asked if they knew anyone who could help. It turns out they didn’t just know someone; they had the right person on their team. Haas has proven to be exceptional at content development, copyediting, research, technical writing, and so much more. They’ve consistently delivered outstanding results and have quickly become one of our go-to resources. Honestly, there’s nothing they can’t do.”

“Haas and the team are exceptional. As a small business owner that launched a massive new initiative this year, having the support of this entire team was not optional - it was (and is) critical. The mark of a great company isn't when everything is going perfectly (because when is that always true?) it's the reaction when there are obstacles, challenges, changes, and problems. The reaction from Haas was and is always professional. They are on-time. They are on-budget. My team is very thankful for THIS team. High character. High performance. -Nathan Fisk President and CMO of Mytikas Industries (Florence, Colorado)”

“Haas Technical Writing has been an outstanding partner for our new company. Jon’s team tackled our technical writing end‑to‑end—from generating a clear, compliant employee handbook to producing thorough production manuals. Beyond documentation, Jon coordinated training with local colleges to upskill our new hires, helped us stand up a professional website that reflects our brand, and even supported practical human‑relations tasks with thoughtful recommendations that improved onboarding and communication. Responsive, knowledgeable, and easy to work with—highly recommended for any growing company that needs reliable, hands‑on support across writing, training, and start-up‑adjacent needs.”
